Profile
Robotics researcher of 5+ years motivated by theory-based practical and actual development of
the robot in the real world. Strong focus on embedded software programming using C++ and
Python and developing robots with great interest in the indoor self-flying robot. Enjoys all
aspects of field robotics engineering from hardware design to software programming
Work Experience
March 2014 - Feb. 2016
Full-time Student Researcher, Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), South Korea
MATLAB/SIMULINK, C/C++, CIFER
Participated 9-DOF helicopter dynamic model identification including rotor dynamics. Derived
turbo-fan aircraft engine dynamic model for electrical engine control unit (EECU). Participated
Quadrotor dynamic model identification for ultrasound based collision avoidance system.
Jan. 2019 - Sep. 2019
Affiliate Researcher, NASA JPL
C/C++, PYTHON, GAZEBO, ROS
Participated to DARPA Subterranean Challenge as a ‘Scout drone’ team member. Develop path
planning algorithm based on the occupancy grid map information from 2D LiDAR SLAM. For
indoor navigation research, various sensor systems such as IMU, GPS, LiDAR, Camera were
covered. The drone able to detect obstacle robustly using convolution neural network (CNN)
architecture and localize itself in GPS-denied environment.
